New Student FAQs

Common Questions New Students Ask:

Q: What are the specials?
A: Click here for our New Student packages. Click here for our current promos.

Q: Can teens attend your yoga classes?
A: Yoga Synthesis offers "Teen Yoga" during the school year. Teens are also welcome to attend our regularly scheduled classes.

Q: Do I need to preregister for classes?
A: No you do not.  We encourage you, as a new student, to arrive 15 minutes before their first class.  This will give you the opportunity to meet your teacher and for us to answer answer questions you may have.  You can also use this time to fill out our new student form (or this can be done in advance - form can be found on the "New Student" page).

Q: How do I know what class to take?
A: Depending on your physical condition and level of experience with yoga, you can choose what's appropriate for you from our array of classes. For beginners, we recommend starting with Basic (Level 1).

Q: Where can I park when the lot is full?
A: If the lot is full, you can park on Island Park Avenue.  Make a right out of the parking lot and it is the first street on your right.

Q: What should I bring to class?
A: Clothes you can move in and a mat if you own one (we have mats for rent if needed).

Q: Are private lessons offered?
A: Yes. Private Yoga instruction can be scheduled with any of our teachers.  Please call the studio (201-818-9642) or email at info@yogasynthesis.com.

Q: I've never done yoga before, what should I expect?
A: Our New Student section offers useful information for those new to yoga or just new to Yoga Synthesis.

Q: Are your packages good for both studios?
A: Yes - our class packages can be used at our Ramsey and Chestnut Ridge studios.

Q: Do you have gift certificates?
A: Yes. They can be purchased at the Ramsey studio or online.

Q: Are you a hot yoga studio?
A: No, however our Vinyasa classes are done in a warm room.

Q: How do I know classes are cancelled?
A: Our schedule links will provide updated information on class cancellations and teacher substitutions.  We email blast for studio closings due to inclement weather (make sure to sign up for our Newsletters).

Q: Can I practice yoga if I am injured or pregnant?
A: It depends on your condition. In some cases it may be necessary to consult your physician. Always discuss your condition/injuries with your teacher so they can help guide you towards appropriate variations or modifications.
