YOGA SYNTHESIS MARCH BOOK GROUP
Yoga Synthesis Book Group Hosted by Jennifer Coan
Monday, March 1st at 7:30 pm
The Yoga Synthesis Book Group is meeting on March 1st, at 7:30 pm, to discuss our new selection "The Heart of Yoga: Developing a Personal Practice" by TKV Desikachar.
In this book many yoga questions are answered about different styles, different methods and figuring how to bring balance into your practice and life. Desikachar is a firm believer in adapting a practice based on your own individual and changing needs. This was the main message from his father's fundamental teachings. His father, Krishnamacharya, is considered to be the father of modern day yoga. He was also the teacher to BKS Iyengar and Pattabhi Jois.
Yoga Journal Review:
"I can think of no better book to recommend to a friend beginning to be excited by yoga but bewildered by the plethora of different schools and their sometimes-conflicting teachings. In addition, I would be hard-pressed to think of a book I would recommend more highly to any yoga student seeking to deepen a yoga practice. . . . The great gift of The Heart of Yoga lies not simply in the depth of Desikachar's learning, but in the compassion, gentleness, practicality, and down-to-earth spirit that permeate the book." -- Yoga Journal
The Yoga Synthesis Book Group is a karma yoga event. Raji and Rose kindly give us the use of the studio and Jennifer donates her time. There is a suggested donation of $10. This year, all donations go towards the Haitian Earthquake fund.
Please RSVP for March's Book Group at 201-818-9642 or yogasynthesisnj@yahoo.com. The book is available at the studio.
