INTRODUCTION TO ASHTANGA SECOND SERIES with KATE STILLMAN: Sunday, August 7th in Ramsey
Curious about what comes after the Primary Series of Ashtanga? Come and explore the Second Series Ashtanga practice. Called Nadi Shodana or Nerve-Cleansing Second Series is designed to cleanse the energy channels or “nadis.” It offers more backbending, twisting, and hip-opening along with throwing in some arm-balances and inversions. Many of the poses will be familiar to regular vinyasa practitioners although some of the alignment and entrances may be different than what you’re used to. In this class we’ll break down the poses and the entrances. Modifications are always on offer so do not be intimidated, do what you can and know that the rest is coming. Some experience with Primary Series Ashtanga is recommended but not required and some experience with vinyasa classes is also recommended.

Kate came to yoga after having just given up a long career as a competitive swimmer. From her very first basics class yoga has changed her approach to daily life. Yoga plays an important role in creating balance in her life and helped her get through the rigors of college and law school. She completed her 200 hr Teacher Training with Raji and have been practicing vinyasa-style yoga and Ashtanga since 2010. She loves to create flowy classes mixing in inversions and arm-balances. Expect interesting flows with lots of opportunities for self-expression.
