SPECIAL CULTURAL OFFERING with Deepak Pherwani

Get a glimpse into an ancient ceremonial ritual which has been done in India in various forms for thousands of years. One of Raji’s Indian students, Deepak Pherwani, is offering to perform a special Satya Narayana Puja ceremony for the studio and anyone who would like to come and participate…for free. It is a meditative, prayerful ritual which includes Sanskrit chanting and fire offerings. There will be food shared afterward, compliments of Deepak.

It is believed the ceremony originated in Bengal as Satya Pir, a ritual performed by all the communities there at that time (Hindu, Muslim and Buddhist) and later in the 1800’s evolved into the Satya Narayan Puja. The ceremony is performed before or on special occasions and during times of achievements as an offering of gratitude to the Divine. These occasions include a marriage, a graduation, a new job and the purchase of a new home, to name a few. In addition, it is said that a devotional performance of this puja will help couples to bear children when they are trying to start a family. It is a way of inviting blessings, clearing negativity, bringing closure or overcoming obstacles.

Deepak wishes to share this part of his heritage with his American yoga community before he goes back to India. We will need to have a definite RSVP by December 15 in order to have everything prepared for you to participate.

All are welcome to attend.

Please RSVP to the studio by Tuesday, December 15. Call us at 201-818-9642 or respond by email to yogasynthesisnj@yahoo.com.
