These workshops explore the intricate relationship of joints, muscles, and the lines of myofascia that link throughout the body and give the keys to understanding postural alignment and engagement. Russell will share how the myofascial structure reflects common postural imbalances and compensations and how this insight can indicate what postural work is necessary for realignment and integration.
Part I: Overview of major joint movements and muscular attachments related to yoga anatomy. Intro to the myofascial system.

ABOUT THE TEACHER: Russell began his professional career in 1998 working as a Physical Therapist at N.Y.U. Medical Center, specializing in orthopedics, acute care, rehabilitation, and as a certified vestibular balance specialist. His intense interest in bodywork, movement therapy and myofascial anatomy guided him to study with highly regarded Rolf therapist, Thomas W. Myers, author of Anatomy Trains. In June 2001, Russell received his certification in Structural Integration, a powerful form of bodywork designed to ease pain, correct posture, resolve somato-emotional stasis, enhance performance, and improve body image. The ultimate goal is integrating personal growth with a deepening awareness of mind-body-spirit connection. Additionally, Russell holds an Integral Yoga teaching certification, teaches Anatomy & Physiology for various Yoga Teacher Training Programs, as well as teaching Myofascial Anatomy & Palpation at Bergen Community College.
