YOGA SYNTHESIS BOOK GROUP hosted by JENNIFER COAN

The current book we are exploring in the Yoga Synthesis Book Group is "Relax & Renew: Restful Yoga for Stressful Times" by Judith Lasater Ph D, PT. This book is like a picture book of basic restorative yoga poses. Ms. Lasater reveals the recipes for undoing our busy lives, relieving stress and how to create healing in the system. Restorative yoga stems from the teachings of BKS Iyengar where props are used to support the body in a pose allowing one to hold the pose longer and deeply relax.

GODDESSASANA with MICHELLE DAWSON

This workshop begins with an asana practice that will be a slow flow vinyasa format - not difficult in nature, but rather more meditative and restorative. Michelle will pay special attention to certain mudras and postures that evoke specific deities and ideas symbolizing divine powers. To conclude the workshop, all Goddess participants will take part in a traditional Mendhi ritual, using an ancient Indian and North African shrub plant for Henna body painting.

CHANTING 101, FINDING YOUR VOICE with SONDRA STOWE

In this class we will explore chants and songs from a variety of traditions and cultures. Find your own voice through practicing chants in a comfortable group setting. By vocalizing the breath we use the voice to create music and harmony. Chanting helps to deepen the connection between sound, breath and healing.

All are welcome, no previous singing or chanting experience is necessary. We will begin with simple breathing exercises and vocal warm ups. Chant sheets will be provided. Please feel free to bring instruments.
